School – led tutoring

We are using the full allocation of the school-led tutoring grant to provide tutoring using existing staff, and one recruited teacher.

We prioritise disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils, which include:

  • Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities
  • Pupils who have a social worker
  • Previously looked-after pupils
  • Other vulnerable pupils

Additionally, the school has flexibility to decide which pupils need the most support to help them catch up on lost learning. We use termly assessment data to review pupil progress; gaps are addressed quickly and effectively.

We maximize the impact of tutoring sessions by:

  • Explicitly linking sessions to classroom teaching and pupils’ specific needs
  • Identifying missing gaps in knowledge due to the pandemic
  • Providing high-quality, individualised feedback
  • Offering short, regular and sustained sessions
  • Limiting group sizes (maximum 3 pupils)
  • Effective planning
  • Using excellent teaching resources
  • Forming good relationships between tutors, pupils and families

The tutoring tracker and calculator tool below shows the number of pupils receiving tutoring, and the school’s monthly expenditure.
