What we want children to know

- Understand the pace judgement when running over an increased distance, choosing the appropriate speed to meet the demand of the task.
- Combine basic jump actions to form a jump combination, using a controlled jumping technique.
What skills we want children to develop
- When running remember to keep the head up and watch where you are going.
- Demonstrate L shape arms when running and understand that arms should move forwards and back past the body.
- When jumping, remember to use the correct technique, making sure to land safely.
- Develop and practice two different types of jump – on the same foot (hop): two feet to two feet: one foot to two feet: one foot to the other foot.
- When throwing, remember to check that the area directly behind and in front of is clear and safe to throw.
- Understand and demonstrate two different types of throw including; pull throw, push throw and a fling throw.
- Teamwork skills and knowing what it means to help and support other members of a team.
- Understand the elements that go into making a good relay race.

What we want children to know
- Fielding is the action of a player(s) performed after the batter has hit the ball, it involves using skills such as stopping, gathering and collecting the ball, catching and throwing skills.
- How to improve basic skills such as controlling, stopping, catching and throwing balls.
- How to develop two skills of throwing and catching.
- How to throw with aim and accuracy.
- Batting is the skill of hitting the ball with a rounders bat.
- How to hold the bat correctly, swing the bat and stand to hit the ball properly.
- The bat should only be used and swung in the designated area.
- To be aware of who is around you when using a rounders bat.
- How to play a game of rounders by playing fairly and following the rules.
What skills we want children to develop
- Apply and develop a broader range of skills, whilst ensuring basic skills are performed with control and accuracy.
- Throw a ball increasing distances, catch a ball with increasing consistency and hit a ball with correct technique and increasing control.
- Intercept and top a ball consistently.
- Work well as part of a team, employing simple tactics, particularly when fielding to make it harder for the batter.
- Communicate, collaborate, and compete with others, following the rules of the game.
- Chose both fielding and striking skills which make it difficult for your opponent. Explain the tactics you have used in games.
- Show control, coordination and consistency when throwing and catching a ball.
