Y6 Term 3 We are advertisers

National curriculum content

Use logical reasoning to explain how some simple algorithms work and to detect and correct errors in algorithms and programs; use search technologies effectively, appreciate how results are selected and ranked, and be discerning in evaluating digital content; select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals; use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns.

 

Lesson objectives

  1. Find out what makes a good advert.
  2. Use a storyboard to plan your advert.
  3. Record video footage for your advert.
  4. Search for other media for your advert.
  5. Create a ‘rough cut’ of your advert.
  6. Finish your advert and get some feedback.

 

What we want children to know

  • Think critically about how video is used to promote a cause.
  • How to storyboard an effective advert for a cause.
  • How to work collaboratively to shoot suitable, original footage; acknowledging intellectual property rights.
  • How to work collaboratively to edit the assembled content.
