Y5 Term 1 Pop Art

National Curriculum Content

  • Produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences.
  • Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design. 
  • Know about great artists, and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.

 

Lesson Objectives

  1. Identify artists who created Pop Art
  2. Use adverts, comic strips and product packaging to design your own Pop Art
  3. Design your own lettering
  4. Use a ruler with accuracy
  5. Use a relevant colour scheme

  • Examples of artists within the Pop Art movement.
  • Motivation for Pop Artists.
  • How to combine graphical and sculptural skills to create their own artwork.

 

What skills we want children to develop

  • Use a sketchbook consistently to inform plan and develop ideas.
  • When planning, explain their choice of materials and components according to function and aesthetics.
  • Select appropriate materials, tools and techniques e.g. cutting, shaping, joining and finishing, accurately.
  • Measure, mark out and cut accurately.
