Cotmanhay Junior School

Safe, Happy Learning

Science

We strive to give our children a science curriculum which enables and encourages pupils to become confident, independent, creative critical thinkers about the world around them. We encourage pupils to use and explore different skills throughout the course of their learning as well as apply skills from other areas of the curriculum. We aim to expand and broaden children’s experiences through the use of practical, hands-on science lessons, experimentation, exploration, educational visits and discovery. Furthermore, we endeavour to create a love of science, a love of learning and a love of discovery. We aim to create an environment in which children embrace questioning and challenge what they ‘know’ about the world. It is our hope that children at Cotmanhay Junior School will approach science with an attitude of ‘Hands on, Heads on, Hearts on’.
