We believe that Physical Education is an essential part of a child’s development. A high-quality PE curriculum will inspire pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport, and other physically demanding activities. We aim to develop a balanced program offering a variety of activities to enhance skills. Positive participation in Physical Education will enable children to build self-esteem, team work and develop a can-do attitude. We want children to enjoy participating in a variety of physical activities and have fun with their peers. PE will not only develop physical literacy and physical skills, but it will also allow pupils to learn about themselves, the importance of keeping a healthy, active lifestyle, self-expression and concepts such as fair play and respect.
We aim to:
- Develop confidence, skills and knowledge
- Be proud of our achievements
- Promote fair play and respect
- Educate children to improve health and well being
- Enjoy physical activity
- Provide quality opportunities for children to participate in competitive sport with other schools
- Provide interschool tournaments in a variety of sports
Pupils will also be offered the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities throughout the year, such as Bikeability, swimming and dance. Virtual lessons will be offered by Erewash School Sports Partnership in activities such as hockey, football, fencing and ‘This Girl Can’ festivals. A yearly residential course is offered to all pupils which gives them the chance to experience outdoor recreational activities not available in the normal school day such as quad biking, abseiling, rock climbing, orienteering and water sports.
