Language Week - WB 10th July

As part of our community curriculum, this week we had a language theme across the school and we studied different languages and cultures. On Monday afternoon, the school was split up into 12  groups where pupils spent time being introduced to a new language. The languages we looked at were: Spanish, Italian, Latin, Polish, Arabic, Russian, Swahili, Nepali, Japanese, Chinese, German and Welsh.

Respect Week

Respect Week 1
Respect Week 2

For our Respect Week, we were visited by both the RS Resource Centre and Unbeatable Energy.

The RS Resource Centre provided each class with an hour long workshop on Hinduism. The children had the opportunity to interact with a range of Hindu artefacts as well as learn lots about the religion from a vicar and a Hindu from the local community. It was a fantastic, enriching experience!

Steve Rivers returned to the school from Unbeatable Energy to provide each class with an hour long djembe workshop. As usual, this was an incredible experience where every group learned a different song and then performed it to their parents at the end of the day! The children always love this experience and it is fantastic to watch them work together to create a wonderful work of art!

Wear it Pink day

Wear it Pink day 1

To raise awareness for breast cancer, we took part in the special Wear It Pink day. Children donated £1 each to dress up in pink and, collectively, we raised nearly £250! Well done everybody!

School Council Election

School Council Election 1
To learn about Democracy and promote British Values in school, we held our own special school election where every child had the opportunity to come to the hall and take part in a secret ballot for who they wanted to be in the school council! It was fantastic to see the children enjoying their opportunity to vote and to see them engaging in an example of a true democratic process!
